alarm that works with turbo timer?

So my evo got broken into 2 weeks ago and i figured maybe its time to get an alarm. thing is, i have an apexi turbo timer, so i was wondering if anyone knows of an alarm system that can still arm the car with the engine still running? or do i just have to wait until the turbo timer stops the engine and then set the alarm?

With my alarm i do have to wait for the timer to kill the motor. I just lock the doors manually n hit alarm from inside my house after about a min.

Very helpful how-to. Might just have to try this out this weekend.

I have a viper alarm system. I used to have it set so that it would automatically arm itself within 10 seconds after the car was shut down.

I had the same problem, I gave up on trying to figure out how to get it to arm. I just ended up waiting till the car would turn off before arming the systems. Pain in the butt.

I am also in the market for an alarm but with the remote start. My search seems to show viper is pretty good, but also expensive. Goto www.viper.com and you can also build a setup for your needs.

I have had two different timers in the car, apexi and greddy and both have worked with my aftermarket alarm.

I was working for a compustar dealer and I can say for sure that many of the systems incorporated a turbo timer into the alarm/ start itself. One of our sales guys drives a 1995 240sx with an sr20 swap and he had his alarm/ start as his turbo timer. Viper systems are completely overrated and the only reason they still sell as many is because that's what the dealers are told to push. I would try to find a compustar dealer in your area. It's a far better product.

I have a matrix 50.5x and it has a 2 button process you can press with the keys in the ignition, it will start a one minute timer I think. Pretty good and the car will turn off if you press the brakes with the keys out.

Funny you posted that link up. I JUST finished installing that same alarm. I use to have the rs-1000 and upgraded to the rs-1100 for the badass remote. So f'n nice. I love it. Got the remote start setup and the built in turbo timer also. Love when I remote start the car and the remote plays a little video of pistons going up and down showing me "car started". Best part is THE ONE MILE RANGE. Its rare that I'm more then a mile away from my car so it's a very nice feature.

But back on topic, most remote start/alarms have a built in turbo timer mode. It doesn't leave the car running after you pull your keys out unless you activate it by pushing a button on the remote. The alarm arms but bypasses the shock sensor till the car shuts off, then 30 seconds later the shock sensor will activate. Most alarms that have come out in the past 5 yrs will have turbo timer built in.

05VIII, was the install a pita? I have never installed an alarm system in my car but I am willing to try. Or should I take it somewhere and have a pro do it? Worried about how much that will cost.
