Just replace your head deck and speakers and maybe like a 4x100 or even 50w amp (amp not for power but sound quality, the amps in head decks sometimes can have a bit of distortion.) I'd go splits in the front and mids in the back and your sound will be 100% better.

BTW Dose anyone know a sub that has some kick but dosent weigh a tonne?
I want more bass

Shell out a few hundred bucks for a some new speakers. And fwiw my stock 8 system sounds fine. Although I usually don't listen to music so I can enjoy the wonderful sounds of the engine/turbo/bov/exhaust.

There's no real way to tell where the problem lies, no actual info, other than to say that it's broken. It could be a matter of blown drivers, a wiring issue, a fried amp in the HU, or simply a question of adjusting the settings.

Interesting start, given the above.

Yes. This being said, it's not as easy as stuffing a driver into a box and hooking up an amp, assuming you want to hear well-defined bass when the car is moving. Standing still, engine off, no problem.

You really don't understand why I said that? Seriously? You asked, "...do all the Evo's come with garbage stock speakers" only to post that you have a broken car stereo a half hour later. It's like asking, "Do all Evos come with garbage stock engines" and then posting that your block has a hole through it.

Regardless, did you find the source of the problem?

I never had sourced the problem when I had posted that in fact the speakers were done, I was throwing out guesses. I just put a Pioneer head unit in it yesterday, and as the clarity has slightly increased I do in fact believe that the issues lies with the speakers.

It's entirely possible that the drivers are blown. You said it sounds like only the tweeters are playing. Does it sound the same when you play just the rear speakers? How about when you pan the sound all the way to the left. When you put your head close to the door speaker, what do you hear?

So anyone have some good sugestions for a good sub. I'm thinking of a MTX 7500 sub and box combo and a responce 800w monoblock sub. I like the way this set up sounds but its really heavy. I used to work in car audio so dont be like " its not just as easy as bla bla bla" I know I was just wondering what some others have done in the past.

Replacing the head unit will always be an improvement. Next, I usually suggest replacing the speakers, but f that still doesn't give you the desired sound quality, you can add a 4channel amp.
