Typical starting problem help-_-

Hello forum I'm really having a major issue with starting my car right. Here's the deal, my car sometimes takes two cranks of turning the key to actually start it up. So this only happens when it's really cold or at night. I first thought it was the starter So I bought a new one 2 months ago. It didn't help much so last week I bought a brand new battery, and it helped out for a week and now it only does it sometimes. This means the battery did help a little but there is something else
Any suggestions???? Maybe spark plugs? Idk what else to think of but I know it can't be a major issue

Is your car modified anyway??

Well before my evo would be hard starting the odd time, so I said i would check the EGR valve.......... and it was full of dirt so I cleaned it out and blew it out with the air compressor and it seems to be starting better since, maybe something you should consider doing, no harm in cleaning it anyway on account of the dust and dirt.

Thanks for vid, helps

The EGR valve is the bell sort thing on the right on the engine looking in at it, its right beside the spark plug cover. It has a pipe coming from the back of it going to the exhaust manifold in the front of the engine. Its only held in with a few bolts.

Hows it driving? Through boost is it pulling well, any loss in compression?

When did you change the spark plugs last?

When you put in the new starter, was it brand new?

And I haven't changed the spark plugs at all. I had the car for 5month now and haven't changed them and who knows how long the past owner has changed them.
Can this problem occur with a spark plug problem?

No bother, as I said its good to clean out the EGR valve anyway.

Well I think thats where your problem is, a vacuum leak sonewhere. Even when i was looking at the video I thought there was little compression, so get that checked out first. Well if the plugs were very bad could cause it, but I doubt it since there isnt good pull when driving through boost.

Its simple enough to check if your plugs are bad anyway. You would have a fair idea of when the car was serviced if you take the plugs out and look at them as well as checking the distance.

Any other ideas of why it doesnt start well in the cold? the cleaning and spark plugs helped because it sometimes starts good on cold starts, but last night it did not start=( it has to be something small because it rarely happens but its annoying lol
