Neither of those are correct. One is a weird H7 connector (completely not correct for our car) and the other is an AMP -> D2S connector, also not correct for our car

You can absolutely do this, the only issue i was trying to avoid was destroying my perfectly good ballasts and I didn't want to invest much money into the project at the time

Ahh - u want to change your ballast but keep it plug n play. auto electric has a fabbed oem mitsu connector going to 9006 i believe. or just make your own from a used ballast setup.

solution to convert oem harness to aftermarket ballast?

I think this is what we are looking for.. Retrofitsource has the adapters with a male end to plug in where the oem ballast went and then it converts to a female end to plug into an aftermarket ballast...

OE BALLAST > 9006 ADAPTERSOEM BALLAST ADAPTERS

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/ac...l#.VzfbNZErLid

AND you can use this for the bulb conversion:
2 x AMP To D2S/D2R/D2C HID Bulbs To Aftermarket Ballast Converter Adapter Plug

all the plugs match up..what do you guys think?

The retrofitsource adapters you posted are correct, they've had those for a few years now.

I never ended up swapping out my OE ballasts for 50W or 55W ones. 30W/35W are more than enough and I saw no reason to replace perfectly good ballasts

Hey I'm having ballast issues as well. How did you plan to cover the hole in the bottom of the housing, where the old ballast would have sat? Also has anyone ever soldered the d2s connector from a bad factory ballast to a working one from a different model? I bought a ballast off eBay with the right model number listed but it shows up as a very similar looking one with a different number. Same connectors, shape, bolt pattern, everything. Only difference is the length of the shielded wires from ballast to the blub. So ya, I'm wondering if anyone sees a issue with soldering and heat shinking together the wires under the shielding?

Update...got it soldered and put back on and works like factory. I am curious as to why you wouldn't have done it.

My personal thoughts were just that the ballasts put out a constant and specific voltage to keep the bulb life at a maximum. chances are soldering won't harm that but the resistance changes or a bad solder could also mean headaches down the road for why bulbs aren't lasting as long or something

personally i'd have just sent it back and bought another with the longer cable, but if unavailable then yea solder would really be the only option
