hi guys

i just bought my evo and i have a big trouble with it....when i start the car,if i dont give some gas he die. i can ride with the car... but under 3000 rpm he is bucking and if i dont give some gas, he dies.

i check all the wire from the maf and they are ok.
when i unplug the maf,the car dont die and i can drive it to 4500 rpm...safe mode i think.

i found something weird, i dont have a leak but if i unplug a piping at half, the car dont die on idle....

if the map sensor is unplug...that change nothing...

i chek the iac motor and everything seem like normal( the teeth are still there) and when i start the car, the motor go up.

i also try something,i take the maf out of the intake pipe, i let the plug on it and i put it on the shock tower, then i start the car and he dont die. but when i shoot some wind on it,the car immediately die.

im not a mechanic but if you can tell me something to chek i can do it.
and im sorry for my english...im french.

the car have 75000 mile on it, it have a 3 inche turboback exhaust,a hks bov and a aftermarket intake pipe.everything else is stock.

forgot to tell that when i plug the maf and go ride the car, until im over 3000 rpm the car run great.

i have no chek engine. no code.

your help would be very appreciated.
thank you

little update!!

i chek the ohmg resistance on the iac motor and it show this:

pin 1-2= 29.5 ohmg
pin 2-3= 29.5 ohmg
pin 3-4= nothing
pin 4-5= 29.5 ohmg
pin 5-6= 29.5 ohmg

i think i read that its suppose to have between 27 to 33 ohgm on every bridge on these pin.... so that means that the iac is broken event if i see it move when i start the car and i have it in my hand. waiting for the new iac...uptade after i try it.

check all ur vaccum lines to the intake manifold. if not u might need to adjust the idle screw on the back of the thottle body good luck!

Sounds similar to the problem I had before I replaced my iacv. My car would have trouble staying alive once I started it. Had to give it gas to keep it from stalling out. If I disconnected the battery and then reconnected it, the car would idle normally, which was odd. It would stall after I hit boost and come to a stop in neutral. Then the start up problems would return.

I checked the spark plugs, coils, and even my MAF too. All were fine. So I replaced the iacv with a new one and now the car runs perfect. I hope that's your problem.

old vs. new iacv

i change the iac and its not resolving the problem...i found something really weird.if i give gas in neutral, to 5000 rpm, the car drop to 4000 and go back to 5000 them drop to 4000 .....but i dont move my feet on the gas.... i dont understand why....any idea??? nobody already have this trouble???
