Car alarm
alright, a few nights ago my neighbor spotted a group of questionable individuals admiring and inspecting my car at around 3AM. I live in the suburbs of dc (PG county) i have the factory keyless entry/security, but it just reminded me of how vulnerable the car really is. so i have been looking into aftermarket alarms. such as :

also a friend of mine recommended installing a second siren under the trunk area as thieves know to pop the hood and clip the wires to the siren these days. it will also make my alarm twice as loud :-)
any one have any reccomendations on other alarms >? thanks
and **** thieves

If you're really worried about theft, I'd suggest getting Lojack. About $700 from what I remember..
A friend of mine had his STI stolen a few months back and was able to find it through Lojack within a day. As a bonus, the cops found a few other stolen vehicles on the premises and threw 3 guys in jail
Also.. you can get a pretty discount on your insurance with lojack.. so it'd end up paying for itself after a while

thanks and good call, i already have it on my bike and they do lower insurance when you provide them the info so.... thats a good idea!
I personally have the viper 5701 2 way transmitter. It's alright but the range of it isn't as specified. Also if you place your siren in a location where it's hard to get to ie wheel well it will be hard for the thieves to clip the wire. Bmws have their factory siren in the wheel well and if you clip the wire it will keep screaming due to it having internal power.
LoJack is another good route but expensive. To for the LoJack with early warning.

and **** thievesRavelco systems are awesome for stopping theft. I still think that a traditional alarm with a GOOD install is a lot better for preventing vandalism. The problem is that most alarms aren't installed all that great. Sure it works, but most alarms are easy to get to and thieves know where they're located. Also, the wiring is all the same so thieves know "Just cut the brown wire to kill the sirens, and the red wire kills the alarm."
Of course, the baddest alarm plus a Ravelco still doesn't stop them from towing the car. In that case, a really good GPS install is the answer. However, all 3 of these layers will quickly add up to over $1000. The trick to stopping thieves is layering your protection and having really good installations. I've done alarms where I de-pinned every wire from the Viper plugs and replaced it with black wire, ran the wire in the factory looms, and had the actual alarm module and sensors stashed in weird places.
We just started carrying car security products. If you need pricing on anything, let me know. I'm going to be picking up a Python PS5000 in the next few weeks for myself.

alright now i am looking at both of these alarms i don't really need a ravelco just yet most days the car is garaged it just happend to be outside that night and when away from home the car is mostly on military bases for work. so an audiable alarm would be a effective deterant. with the 3 sirens front wheel well, undertrunk and interior i think it will deter most any theif.
that said i am looking at the python now aswell, question i cant find out if the app is android friendly ?

and is this more advantagous then the 2 way pagers offered by viper ?
