Oxygen Audio Ocar iPhone Radio or something similar?

Hey all! I currently looking to upgrade my head unit and have come to the conclusion that my iPhone should be its replacement! I currently use this iphone car mount with an good old fashioned aux cable. Everything works fine but it would be awesome if it could be a bit more streamlined, in my searches i have come across htis
Oxygen Ocar head unit Oxygen Ocar head unit
that docks the iPhone. Has anyone used this? Or something similar?Any opinions and or additional options would be greatly appreciated...

I purchased one of the new Pioneer units and was super happy with it. I liked the idea of being able to dock my iphone inside the head unit, but I think its just as easy and makes more sense to just route the cable into the glove box. I rarely use the radio, and mainly play music off of my iphone. I honestly hardly ever hook the phone via the cable into the headunit since bluetooth is much easier and I am not having to subject my phone to short battery charges. I also looked into that head unit, but opted for the pioneer due to the pre amp voltage, number of usb inputs, and price.

The car audio sounds so much better with the new unit I have held off from upgrading any other aspect of the sound system. The one thing I would make note of is the new cable used for the iphone 5 and checking for compatibility. I would think all it would require is one of the new usb cables but that would definately be something to check for.

Good luck, once its replaced you'll wonder why you didnt replace it sooner. Bet.

Get bluetooth streaming headset. The OCar thing is a bit..lackluster and very bulky

that, and it's end-of-life now that apple has new connectors

Screw that, its already obsolete with the IP5... Its a neat idea but once you start to use it you will be like

Any new bluetooth compatible unit like the Pioneer for example will work great. On a super budget? There is a $9 bluetooth adapter that goes in the AUX port for wireless connectivity also for those older head units that do not have bluetooth.

I recently purchased the Pioneed DEH-6400. (I think this is the model number, I am away from the box right now). It is the one with bluetooth streeming capability/front usb/front aux port. If memory serves me it was less that $200 from bestbuy.

When I was looking at headunits in the store, I didn't even think about bluetooth streaming. I just wanted something with an aux port like all of my friends. HOWEVER I am lucky enough to have ended up with the head unit that DOES have bluetooth audio and WOOOWWW. I ABSOLUTELY LOOVE ITT.

I get into my car with my iphone still in my pocket and it remembers the last song that I was listening to and automatically resumes playing. ALL FROM MY POCKET.

Also, the bluetooth phone capability works extremeley well. I was skeptical, but people assure me that the reception is spot on.

I have not once used the auxillary cable that I purchased. I have used the USB only to charge my phone when I'm on low battery. Streaming does not use very much battery by the way.

Overall, I am extremely happy that I ended up with a headunit that can stream music. It has allowed me to enjoy driving even more than I already do. Also, it's pretty sweet you and your friends pile in the car and you just start the music without plugging your phone in. Bluetooth pioneer FTW
