Short in the system.
Short in the system.
At my last track event, my Evo (2006 IX) just died in the middle of a session. After getting it towed back to the pits, Fuse #8 (20A) under the hood was blown. I replaced it and it blew the new fuse as soon as I turned the key on. Seems I have a dead short.
Looking through the service manual, seems this fuse supplies quite a few engine control devices.
Before I start the needle in a haystack search for the dead short, is this something other people have seen? Any particular failure points to check first?
I am an electrical engineer, so given time, I will root it out. Just wondered if anyone had experience that might point me in the direction of any known issues to save me some time.
I have searched, but the stupid search engine takes "fuse 8" as just "fuse" and returns so many results it's useless.

not sure if this will help at all but it take just a second to look, inspect that ground under the cam sensor, pull some sheathing back and look for burnt wire. I say this because that one ground runs through the main part of the engine harness and touches everything, when it shorts and burns it burns everything it touches and can pop random fuses. I know this from experience since ive had mine burn 3 times lol. Hopefully that helps but if not good luck

Crankshaft position sensor, EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve, engine control module, evaporative emission ventilation solenoid, evaporative emission purge solenoid, exhaust camshaft position sensor, fan control relay, fuel pressure solenoid, heated oxygen sensor, idle air control motor, immobilizer-ECU, intake camshaft position sensor, injector resistor, MFI relay, oil feeder control vaive, turbo charger wastegate solenoid and volume airflow sensor
Cam sensor is in that mess, and that is a high heat area, especially on a track driven car, if I get some daylight tomorrow I'll dig into it.
