New head unit/adapter question

So I have an 05 SSL and was curious about the adapters because I have been reading a lot of people we're having issues with cutting out and various other things. So my question is will the MITAH/METRA adaptors work with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997? I don't want to buy the adapters to find out they do not work.

So the head unit works? You need adapters for the SSL Evo.

This works, I have an SSL and I used this to install a pioneer 7.5" fold up dvd player head unit. Works flawlessly. The reason people say it "cuts out" is because you hook the rca cables up from the radio to the harness and then to the stock rca's. So most radios have the analog speaker wires on the same plug as the power and ground wires so you have to use that plug to wire the thing up for power. Then they don't cover the speaker wires that are on the same plug and the speaker wire ends up rubbing on the metal dash support that sits just below the radio and obviously that shorts the radio out and causes all these issues. I just cut all my speaker wire on that plug clean and then wrapped the whole lot of them up in electrical tape and have never had that issue. Some radios will shut down, some say "amp error". But regardless this harness will work just wrap up the speaker wire on the power plug or just cut them off completely.

Thanks so much! Is that both adapters I take it?

Yeah its for both and it is what you need to install an after market radio in your SSL. I didn't mean the cars rca's btw. I've been up since 6am sorry. You hook the new radios rca cables into the harness' rca females and then you can see the plug looks like an old school s-video cable, that plugs into the stock plug. You need a radio with rca output and again get rid of the speaker wire output on the radio or just make sure they are covered up good.

Both adaptors being the one on top in that picture is your power plug and the one on the bottom is your audio plug.

And I am back, finally got time to install but now I have one more issue. The RCA cables from the adapter are a different color than the ones on my deck? The Adapter is like white grey/green and purple. They don't match up to the deck at all? I tried plugging them into all the deck in many variations but still get no sound.

The reason could possibly be because I have the amp wire connected wrong...would I connect it to remote continue or power continue..Not quite sure.

I remember from when I installed mine having two extra rca cables that were not used. I can't remember which ones weren't used but I powered up the radio and was plugging some in and then unplugging them and trying other ones. Two of them are the correct color and my fader and balance work perfect on the radio. Like I can switch the sound from left to right and from front to back. You WILL have two extra rca's and that's okay. I was doing some work on the car last night so its out in the burbs and I'm in the city tonight. If you can wait until tomorrow I will post on here which colors are the correct ones. Otherwise do what I did and use the headunit to move the sound to the front right speaker and try different rca's until the music plays over that speaker. Then move the music to the left front and do the same. Eventually you will figure out which two are the correct ones. Or I will tell you tomorrow

Leave the rubber cups over the two rca's that aren't being used so they don't ground against the inner dash board too.

Did you figure this out yet? I spent the whole day yesterday finishing up a new 180 amp alternator and a new imported serpentine belt. A new ported intake manifold and throttle body and deleting egr and evap crap. Didn't have a chance to look behind the radio sorry. If you still need me to check which 2 plugs I used I can do it today. Now eveytime I roll into a run and I hit 2k rpm the knock flash starts going nuts its always something for gods sake.
