Oil Temp Gauge Stopped working after new spark plugs?

Hi guys, I have a 2006 MR with the OEM sport gauge pack. After changing out my spark plugs I now notice that the oil temp gauge doesn't appear to be working. The gauge is getting power, it lights up along with the boost gauge and volt gauge but the needle still stays all the way to the left. Is it just coincidence? I don't think it's a fuse issue but I'll check that tomorrow when there's day light. The only thing I can think of is maybe the oil temp sensor connected to the drain plug got damaged somehow when I was test driving the car after putting in the new spark plugs. Any advice is appreciated

I would start with simply visibly inspecting the wiring harness of the oil temp sensor and gauge to make sure nothing was unplugged by accident. The wiring that lights up the gauge is a separate circuit then the one that operates the sensor.

Does your normal test drive include long jumps?

Lol! No, the test drive was uneventful with all 4 tires on the pavement. Strangely enough the oil temp gauge started working again on its own. I will open up the dash and examine the connections on my next day off. It was just strange that it started failing right after changing the spark plugs. Oh well.

Mine doesn't work. Apparently the sending units are notorious for failure.

Try checking the wire to the sending unit if it's not that then prob the unit!
