factory MR temp gauge stopped working

i noticed for the past 2 days my OEM temp gauge on my MR stopped working. It would just stay on 50 which is the lowest temp and not go up. Has this happened to anyone else with the mitsu gauges? I had my driver side window installed the other day, does that have anything to do with the problem with the gauge? tia

When you put the key to the run position, does the needle jump a tiny bit? If not, it probably is not getting power. You can remove it and stick a volt meter to the wires. There is a how to for removing them somewhere one here, it takes literally 2 minutes to do if you know what you are doing.

If someone was messing with the gauges, they might have switched the wires b/n the temp and voltage gauges, they are interchangeable connectors but the temp one has more wires sticking out of it.

If it is jumping when you put the key to run, then get the motor warm, pull the gauge, and see if the wires to the temp sender are showing voltage.

You could probably also try putting voltage though the gauge directly with a battery or something, but if you do not run the right voltage you will probably fry it, so that is not recommended.

Check the white braided wire going into your oil pan.

It might have come loose or got cut somehow.

Also make sure the wire to the oil drain plug is still connected

Mine has done this a few times and my solution has always been to go and jiggle the connection and wires down near the drain plug. Not very technical, but it hasn't failed me yet (though it took several attempts last time).

I slap the mr gauge panel when it does that..The wires connecting to the gauge in the back never seem to make a good connection..Just slap it a few times lol
