Quality of aftermarket ignition coils Evo 8

So looks like one of my coils broke--my guess is when I was replacing the wires I must have pulled out the contact sleeve in one of them, so it's not connecting to the wire to send a spark to cylinder 3.

I happened to have ordered a used one on eBay, just to have a spare, but there's no attesting to it's quality or if it even works ("pulled out of customer's car" in the description). But hey, it was cheap.

So while I may go to a Spark Tech non CDI system http://www.sparktechignitions.net/st...products_id=49, I was looking at some other options to see what's available. Two new OEM ignition coils will run me more than the Spark Tech system, which is why I would go Spark Tech if OEM was the only option. But I see a ton of these aftermarket coils on eBay such as this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-MITSUBIS...-/222254894183

And wondering if they'll get me through the day.

FYI It's a DD Evo8, a few bolt ons, nothing of note. Don't plan on doing anything other than keeping it a reliable and fun DD unless something else becomes my DD and then I can 'because racecar' with it.

Thanks for any help!

The factory original coils are the best.
I wouldn't use anything else.

They don't lose their output with age either........it's an internet myth started in order to sell more crap aftermarket parts.

^agreed, either run the COP, or stay factory coils.

Are you aware that you can replace the coil boots and they come with new metal for center?

The factory wires are the best too.

They don't fail like the aftermarket ones.

It's not the boot. I got those. It's the place to plug the wire-fed boot (cylinder 3 or 4) from the coil. One has a metal contact sleeve in it to make contact with the wire to the boot, whereas the other doesn't, which is why I don't think cylinder 3 is firing.

I think it happened when I bought new boots and replaced them, and when I pulled off one of the wires it took the metal contact sleeve with it somehow and I'm left with nothing.

I'd find a set of used OE coils and run those, or get a COP setup and call it a day. either will work just fine and be better than aftermarket coils
