Aftermarket Ignition coils.

Does anybody make upgraded aftermarket coils for our Evos? I know there is a kit out there that utilizes 1 coil per sparkplug but it looks like 4 stock coils. I checked out MSD and saw nothing on their website.

Did that already. They utilize the stock coils. I am looking for aftermarket upgraded ones.

Stock 1g/2g DSM coils and igniter module worked wonders for me. Went from missfiring at 25psi with .020 plug gap to running miss free at 30psi with a .028 gap.

Super cheap, you should be able to get the parts from any junkyard for under $40 including the wiring harness plugs and stock plugwires.

I have not tested it with the stock ecu, there may be dwell issues that prevent it from working. I use the AEM EMS standalone and just changed the dwell settings to the base 1g dsm settings.

Has anyone figured out the limits of the stock ignition?

um yeah....with a step colder plugs gapped tight you can get away with around 500awhp if your lucky. I have been really lucky and saw 558 awhp but can't get down the track real world without it breaking up at that boost.

Colder plugs aren't going to prevent the spark from being blown out

Is there any difference in the ignitions? Why not just go with an MSD setup?
