Who's got an aftermarket ignition setup?

Just wondering what people are going with? I'm not sure I understand the different options out there, so if anyone can explain the pros and cons, I'd appreciate it.

I've been thinking about going with an msd setup, with the external coils. How would this setup compare to the ignitions that "boost" the stock coils?

I run stock 14 year old 1990 spec DSM coils and igniter on my evo8. They are much better than the stock cop/internal igniter setup. Simple 4 wire install. Standard DSM plug wires work fine with the coil mounted on the top/right side of the valve cover on a custom bracket.

I use the AEM EMS, this allows user to define all the dwell settings. I loaded the default dwell settings from the DSM aem ems basemap into my evo8map, and it was mint after that.

I have not tried the 1g ignition parts on a stock ecu car to see if that works. Need a test car.

anyway..with stock coils, I couldnt run more tha 25psi even with plugs gapped to .020.
With the DSM coils, I can run 32psi (highest I have tested) with no missfires at .028 gap.
Major improvement

I remember reading that you were doing that. That's a very lucrative idea...

If you don't mind, could you post up some more info? Or if you'd prefer, PM it to me.
