As soon as I get to 2100rpm the fuel pump relay on the firewall starts clicking, and keeps clicking till about 3100rpm then stops.
Very rapid continuous clicking.
Doesn't matter if I'm on my way up the revs, or down. It's always in that exact rev range

I tried replacing the relay with a brand new OEM one, but does the same thing.
I checked fault codes and I had an airflow sensor code. Cleared codes and the air flow sensor code came back
Bought a brand new MAF. Air flow sensor code is now gone, but fuel pump relay still clicking loudly when driving in that rev range

 

Hi all, I actually have a ninety seven' Targa with a gas pump relay trouble. The relay commenced to click on after 2 months of now not using the automobile. Sometimes it'll be an occasional click on each minute or so, or at times while it gets extreme it's going to sound like a kind writer right in the back of the motive force seat. When I eliminated the rear bulkhead trim, I traced the sound to the fuel pump relay. I also can experience the relay vibrate whilst it clicks so the sound must be coming from there. I've observed there may be an identical Denso relay, at the back of the passenger seat, searching at the carrier guide it says it's miles the "Throttle Valve Control Motor Relay" and the component range are identical. So I did an experiment with the aid of swapping the 2 relays and irrespective of which relay I plug into the wire connector, the relay will begin to click whilst paired with the gas pump connector.
