Another exhaust question

Has anyone ever had to wait over a month to get an exhaust? I was just wondering, because I've been waiting a month for an HKS Carbon-Ti to get to me, and I still haven't heard any clues from the dealer I bought it from or from HKS as to when it will get to me? I'm just wondering if this is a normal wait time for an exhaust? I thought those things were fairly common, so ordering one wouldn't really make me wait that long. I waited almost 2 months just to get some MR taillights, but I knew when I ordered those that they were on backorder pretty much every where that had them listed.....The GReddy exhaust I bought for my last car arrived 5 days after I ordered it. Just curious.

Well, I found out from the dealer that HKS shipped out some stuff, just not my exhaust that I ordered forever ago.

I'm trying to decide on whether I should let my order for the HKS Carbon Ti ride and just wait it out, or if I cancel this order and get another exhaust. I really like the look of the HKS, and they make good power. Are there any suggestions to alternatives to the HKS? I'm thinking about the Invidia G200 Ti, but I don't really know anything about Invidia. How reputable are they?

Sorry so wordy, and thanks for any help....

I think Ryan at RnR racing has these in stock, give him a call?

Who'd you order it from?

I probably avoid RnR for exhaust stuff. I ordered one from him at the beginning of June and still haven't gotten everything from him. It's been almost 4 months now. So, you're one month time waiting is a lot better then mine. I'd just wait them out and see what happens. Otherwise you could be waiting a lot longer if you tried getting it from Ryan.

Yea, I second that, Losharn. RnR is extremely problematic. I have been sorting exhaust issues out with Ryan since June. I have just recently (read: last week) sorted everything out. I'd avoid RnR.

I did finally get my exhaust from RnR (after almost 4 months), but the problem is that I also ordered a turbo kit from them as well (now going on 4 months ago as well). So the exhaust is setup to work with the new turbo. But of course, I don't have the entire turbo kit yet, so having the exhaust does me no good at all. I've been trying for weeks now to get ahold of them and they don't answer the phone or email. How were you able to get ahold of them 03venom?

Wow, I guess the one month waiting period for me isn't that bad. 4 months would drive me insane. I don't really want to trash any particular vendors or anything like that, but I thought that since I ordered an HKS exhaust that it wouldn't be a long wait coming from a company of their size. RnR is custom fabricating their piping to an HKS carbon muffler, right? So, I would imagine that a smaller shop might have a tougher time meeting volume requirements on custom jobs? I don't know though, 4 months is a long time to wait any way you look at it, that sucks.

Bottom line, I'm just impatient and I'm not alone in the waiting game for a basic product.....

Yes, RnR does the custom fabricating. And I knew this from the beginning and that is one of the reasons I went with them. But, on their website and directly from Ryan himself, I was told it would only take 2 weeks to ship. So, based upon that information I went ahead and placed the order. After 3 weeks, I asked where my order was and was promised that they were just about done with it and it would ship the following week. After 5 weeks, I asked again and basically got the same response. After 7 weeks, I was told that it had shipped that day. So, I waited a week and nothing. Called back, and no surprise, it hadn't shipped. But, I was promised it would ship that day. This went on and on until I finally got the exhaust 3 weeks ago after placing the order on June 4th. Then, I was promised that the rest of my order would ship the following week. Well, last week I got a couple of things but not nearly all of it. Now I can't get anyone to answer the phone or emails. Very frustrating.

Anyway, I guess my point is that I don't mind waiting if I was told up front that it was going to take 4+ months to get my order and then was apprised of the situation as things changed. Unfortunately, I was told it would only take two weeks, and then was lied to multiple times about shipping times. Not only that, but they never once got in contact with me to inform me of changes. Rather, I had to contact them 5-6 times each week before I'd get a response. Quite poor customer service in my opinion.

Obviously, I would never do business with RnR again, and after talking with other people and hearing other people's horror stories, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else either.

And to be quite honest, I really don't like trashing any company either. But sometimes enough is enough and I don't want anyone else to go through the same hassle and frustration that I've gone through. I basically lost the entire summer to tune and race my car because of RnR.

Call around like Grouppe-s or any other vendors. Someone should have one in stock.
Took 3 weeks to get my exhaust since they had to order mine.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, I guess actually going down to the shop was worth it when I got my exhaust down there begining of july. Maybe Ryan will see this and will chime in

I understand the problem the customer had above with a DSM kit we put together for him. Backordered parts made thing difficult to get out. I apoligize for the wait he inccured with that kit.

Off the self parts and exhaust are shipped within our normal time frame. If it is custom then it will take longer as always.

Ryan did get in touch with me today and has told me that everything left on the order was shipping out today. I asked him to ship it out overnight, but not sure if it happened or not. I appreciate his response and am glad that hopefully everything is taken care of.

However, one thing I would like to state is that I was told BY Ryan that the exhaust would take two weeks after I made the order. As he states, custom orders take longer and I would expect this. But when he tells me it'll take two weeks to ship, then I expect it to take two weeks to ship. Not 3+ months.

Unfortunately, he never once let me know there were back ordered parts (until today), nor did he offer any kind of compensation for all the hassle and time lost that I incurred. Once I get the rest of my order, and if there are no more issues, then I might have a different opinion about RnR. But for now, I am still very upset about the whole issue. It is interesting to me however that it was only AFTER I started making an issue about things here on the boards that everything was taken care of. I guess if you are going to order from RnR, you know what you need to do to get your parts in a hurry.

I really wanted the HKS 30th aniversary but no one had one in stock. I went with the JIC instead and picked it up the same day I ordered it from Vividracing. (Living in Arizona has its perks sometimes) The JIC is probably very comparable to the quality of the HKS and looks just as good IMO. I paid about $20 more than the HKS, but I got it a lot sooner. I couldn't be happier either, the JIC rocks!

Could you post some pics of your JIC exhaust? How big is the tip? Does it exit straight, or at an angle? Glad to hear you're happy with your choice.....
