cam gear timing is screwed
just installed my 272's...and fidanza cam gears ---- theres a problem
i checked the new cam gears against the stock ones , there not the same
the fidanzas have the alignment pin for the cam at the 12 oclock position directly in line with the 0 degree mark on the cam gear
the stockers are roughly at the 11 oclock position in relation the timing mark on
top of the gear..
you guys getting good results with the -4...-1.5 on the cam gears ,,,,
did you use the 0deg marks on the fidanzas to line up with the timing marks on the valve cover
or did you use the horizontal lines on both gears and line them up horizontally accross the head.
i need help with this ive taken it apart 5 times and readjusted the gears and i cant figure which way to do it...
any help would be appreciated
regards rick!!!

I just installed the same setup yesterday, the fidanza cam gears line up with only the lines facing up. The timing marks will not line up, but make sure you used the holes that say evo as the other holes are for 1-2g dsm's. I set the Intake side to -4 and the Exhaust side to -1.5 and the car pulls HARD to redline.
Ya make sure you are putting the cam dowel pin in the evo hole. This will make the cam degree marks at the 3 o' clock position. Remember the cam dowel pins should be facing up at TDC.

you talking about the lines..at the 9 oclock position on the left,,, those go straight up ini relation to the head. so there both straight up and timing marks on the camgears are sitting at the 3 oclock position or to the right---- if
I just checked one of the Fidanzas i have here and when the line is facing up at the 12 oclock position the changeable markings are at 9 oclock. Now when installed in the car yes the markings will face the 3 0clock position.

the left hatch mark on the cam gears are lined up with the timing marks on the valve cover...at -4....-1.5 it idles great and pulls hard but it pulls nasty better at 0deg intake....-2 exhaust but the idle aint so great, but it doesnt stall and crap it surges once in a while and is lopey....sounds great..

I'm getting ready to slap in a 272 in/ 264 ex set up with Fidanza Gears and have been asking everybody that I can find, about exactly what you are talking about. I stare at my stock set up and and stare at the install instructions and can't figure out why the 12 oclock hole (with the scale markings) CAN'T be used to keep the -/+ scale at the top mark. But Eveyone including you is saying "Use the EVO hole".
I don't get it but I'm gonna do it just like you did (and everyone says to) and use the EVO hole (After setting the stock set up to TDC and marking the belt)
The scale will then be at 3 oclock when the gears and cams are at TDC, but hey, I live with stranger abnormalities in my life than that, but it feels really weird.
Somebody explain why this is the way it is to me .......... one more time ....... slowly.
Thanks
