Need help??????

It's been nightmare after the clutch install for me. I've been seeing severe boost spike going to 25psi and then settling down to around 20. Turn the boost down and still does the same thing. Boost still builds up and the car still pulls but I can feel the car lost a lot of HP on top end and is probably running too rich. I have BR S4 and the car now idles too good. Before the car will idle lopy but will hold steady vacuum. Now the car lopes and the vacuum ranges from 20 to 10. During a cold start the idle is not steady anymore and I experience a stall for the first time.

I have changed to t bolt clamps and problem is still there. Boost leak? exhaust downpipe leak? or what? I'm going to try and redo the clamps but any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

For those who have peform a boost leak test does your car need to be at TDC. I try boost leak testing and seems like the air is leaking through the throttle body or somewhere else.

Thks.

Did you notice a loss in HP and a change in idle?

I dont feel a loss in power. In fact theoretically it should be a boost right. Unless you dont have the fuel to meet the demands of 25psi then it will feel very sluggish.

I think my boost spike is do to a boost leak, exhaust leak or something else. The car was custom dynoflash and it ran great until the clutch install. The top end on the car is now gone and the car idles like it's not sucking enough air. There's a leak somewhere that I'm not finding.

When I get the chance, my buddy VTECH8TR, will help be do a pressure test to see if there are any leaks in the system. If there arent then I have no logical explanation other than the solenoid is wierd or going bad. I dont know. Do you have a data logger or anything? Takes a few runs and see whats happening with the fuel. I am thinking you lose power because their isnt enough fuel to feed 25psi. And my idle is fine even with cams. Other than the lopey sound that I'll try to tune out later. Try have it retuned to compensate.

I see what you are saying, but I dont know why a clutch install would give you a leak. The stock boost source and lines coming form the "T" fitting the the actuator and boost solenoid are pretty much outta the way. Maybe time is taking its toll on the fasteners. Can you hear a psssssss sound under the hood when the car is running? I know its hard especially when all the mechanics of the motor is running. I used ti hear every vaccum leak I had in my 2g. Of course and ran like total crap then. It was going absolutely nowhere.

It sounds like you have a boost leak 2 me, run a leak test from your turbo compressor inlet and see if you hear any leaks, if so correct them to see if the boost problem is still their.

Hope you find the issue. Let me know if you guys need to put the car in TDC in order to do a boost leak check because this may be the case. I don't have a datalogger here so I can't check.

The guy who did my clutch install mess up the lower intercooler pipe so I had to put some gasket on it. That fix one of the leak but I'm not sure if it's 100%. I am hearing a sound like something is leaking near the downpipe but I'm not sure if it's leaking. I definitely need to perform a boost leak test up to 30psi.

I wouldn't recommend this with stock head studs, i would pressure leak at 25psi at max, this is just IMO.
