Please dont laugh....stupid question

I am trying to decide on a new clutch. Looking at EXEDY, CUSCO and HKS. What is the difference between a TWIN PLATE clutch and a TWIN DISK clutch. Cusco is the only one that says TWIN DISK clutch and HKS and EXEDY say TWIN PLATE??? Difference, or just diffent use of words?

Thanks

Only stupid question is the one you don't ask... Unless you forget to do a search first.

Twin Disk = Twin Plate

Yes I did a search

This is just pissing me off. I can get a CUSCO TWIN for 1399.00, a HKS TWIN for 1399.00 and a EXEDY TWIN for 1299.00. I have no freaking clue. Done lots of research and they all sound like the same quality. DAMNIT~!!!!

You may not need to buy such an expensive set-up. I've heard utilizing a heavy pressure plate with a street disk works wonders. I'd say check out ACT, or maybe if you do have under 400hp, a single disc may work fromone of those companies (EXedy=Cusco). Just check out more options before spending $$$$.

You must be putting down ALOT of power to have to use a twin plate. Those clutches hold aot of power but it's really overkill on most Evos. What kind of HP are you running. I have just a simple ACT stage1 and it holds 400whp. I love the clutch!

How about this - Post a poll asking for opinions from people that have installed the various clutches in their cars... include twin and single plate. Cusco, Exedy, ACT, Clutchmasters, etc.

I know that a TWIN is overkill for my setup but I want a clutch that will last a long time. I maybe lauch once a week. I roll into ALOT and just want to be sure I am not changing my clutch next year.

I gotcha, but a twinplate doesn't mean it's more durable per say. I drive about the same as well and I have about 10k miles on my ACT with no probs, they are a provn clutch and they are not expensive. If this is your daily driver, I highly recommed a single-plate for drivability reasons, they will be just as durable but you will be able to live with it.

Twin-plate in traffic = Road rage
