EGT and Wideband O2?

I was about to purchase an EGT but a friend told me to get M-Series Wideband Oxygen Sensor Controllers instead. Aren't these two different things?

They are two different measurements but they measure for the same end result, that is engine damage before it happens and so it can be tuned correctly. I have both, the reason why is becuase you can actually run a safe afr (5v O2 Sensor) with too little timing and get a high EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp). So if you are doing your own tunning it is best to have both. If you aren't tunning and you just want to keep any eye on things I would probably purchase the EGT first but honestly this is just my preference either one will be fine but not do you much good unless you have some sort of tune on your car. Just my 02.

Thanks for the info, I think I will go with the EGT first then buy the wideband when I plan to tune. What other gauges you think I should get other then EGT and boost?

np, I my opinion the other important gauges would be Oil Temp, Fuel Pressure and Water Temp especially if you do any Autocross or Road racing.

I disagree. You can't tune with a EGT like you can with a wideband. Wideband first then a EGT. IMO

I don't think you read the entire thing. I said that if you are tuning use both but if you are not tuning it is really up to you but I prefered the EGT first just to monitor. Please no offese just wanted to be sure we were clear.
