I have this problem where the shifter will not go into gear after starting the car, or after letting it idle with the clutch out. I can kind of jam it into gear. It doesn't grind when putting into 1st, but it does grind when puting into Reverse occasionally. After it grinds into gear, if I try it again, it will be smooth. Strange.
Also, if I drive the car kinda hard, as in revving high, then I have no problems, everything shifts smooth. When I say shifts smooth, I don't mean that it feels like the clutch or gears aren't working all the time, but that the shifter seems to have some resistance when putting into gear.
Any ideas? if you don't get what I'm saying, just ask me to clarify. You should know that I have had the car apart for clutch replacement. Is there anything we could have done during the install that wasn't adjusted right? THANKS!

I have a similar issue where my car won't go into first while stopped. I just put it into another gear, then it slides into first without a problem. I think it just has to do with the alignment of the gears and the syncros.

Maybe your clutch wasn't alligned properly. Hell I don't know. But that might be a start. Call the place that threw in your clutch. That would be a better start.

Do you mean that the clutch pedal might not be adjusted to the correct play? I've adjusted that to the factory specs.
Can you explain further?

Its probably one of a couple things. One the Fluid put into your tranny is very important. You wouldnt believe the difference fluid makes CRAZY!!! Penzoil Syncromesh or BG is best. Second you do have to get the syncros moving but most the time you put it in reverse then first and it will work. Also could be that you need to bleed your clutch to make sure there are no air bubbles in the lines. Also if you got a twin plate clutch installed you probably should get the extender rod. Just my 0.02

so should we have bleed the clutch line when installing the new plate? I don't see why we would unless we were doing thte SS clutch line at the same time. We didn't have time to do that, and I'm not so sure I wanna mess w/ it unless i have to. I put in BG Synchroshift (3 bottles) and it was pooring out the fill hole at the end of three bottles, so I'm sure it is full of fluid. T-Case didn't seem to need fluid, since it was also over flowing (didn't add any fluid) but I suppose we could have been wrong 'bout that.
So far, I think it's not much to worry about, cuz like you said, once you line up the synchros it shifts better. Only thing is that occasionally it's hard to get the synchros to line up. I think I can relax until it gets worse or something... thanks fellaz!
