Anybody else have a whinning noise after replacing cam gears and timing belt? The cars runs great but is making a whinning noise. Anybody know what this is?

Maybe - I had works put in cams (not cam gears) and replaced the belts and I developed a "howl" between 4000-4500 rpms. Not sure what it is, but they weren't overly concerned. Tyler called me the other day and it sounds like they might have figured it out. We're playing phone tag right now... I'll let you know whne i get ahold of them

Yeah, my noise came from the Fidanza gears spining and touching the came gear cover.

I left the cover off, so it isn't that. It sounds like it's coming from below the gears. Like it's one of the idler pulleys? At idle it almost sounds like a bad waterpump, but it's not coming from the WP. I'm wondering if it's possible to overtighten the belt? I wouldn't think so with the hydrolic adjuster?
I'm going to take the cover off and check all the bolts for tightness. I would hate to blow my motor because I didn't tighten a bolt properly.

Your belt is likely tensioned too tight.
