Hi John, I figured to answer this question, I'd call on the guy who is considered THE authority on Mitsubishi trannies, from what I hear.
I just saw Shiv's post about the durability of the Evo 8 tranny. Now, Im on my second build and it drives terribly, works terribly and Im unhappy with it as the 5th gear syncro problem is back and getting notably worse. Now, if I happen to send the tranny out to you for a rebuild, I am confident it will be done properly, BUT, what is done to strengthen the weak points (IMHO, the syncros aren't up to par with even street driving) and eliminate these issues? I'd sure like to have a bullet proof tranny that I dont have to worry about, so..if you could outline the process I'd appreciate it very much.

I already talked to him about it he quoted me $700 to rebuild the complete tranny with all his parts. Thats of course with me taking it out and paying shipping both ways then putting it back in. Also that is with keeping the stock gear ratios. Benefit is i would be able to rev to the 9500rpms i want withut worring about the tranny not being able to keep up. NICE!!

im pondering this as well just after my motor is done. but im driving it to him... i hate taking this transmission out. btw, what is he replacing to make it stronger? is he cryofreezing it? im really interested in this. anyone know how much it cost?
i was also considering Turbotrix, as I live right down the road. I figure if Shep charges 700 for the build with parts, then TT couldn't be too much more and labor shouldn't be half bad either...I just want to know the end result...beefy, or stock?
I just pulled my tranny today to install a new twin plate clutch. I did it on jack stands with hand tools, took my time, no real difficult parts, took about 5 hrs, including breaks and putting up my tools continually. I did have to barrow a slide hammer to remove the output shaft.
