cams question

please post only if you do have hks cams.

im looking to get hks cams but not sure yet on which combo. i am leaning towards doing straight 264s because i am very **** about bad idle or stalling. I am getting a tune as soon as i get the cams installed (TT).
My question is.....
how is the idle for the different combos....264in 272ex...etc...etc...

can any good tuner make my idle smooth? cam gears?

I have 272s, Idel, not so good, power: great. No stalling. Now I have cam gears, all is well.

Are you planning on upgrading the stock turbo?

I got 264/272 and car was idling fine with the stock injectors. When I upgraded the injectors to 660, car stalls a little if it's not warmed but after it gets warmed up, it idles fine. Al has a fix for the idle problem with cams. You might want to go to his section and read about it. I hear it's working great and am planning on sending my ECU in for the fix.

It reads like you just threw in the larger injectors without having the ECU remapped for them. If you did, no wonder the car does not idle correctly! Talk about a good way to confuse the ECU.

The bigger injectors were put in there when I was at Buschur Racing during the weekend of the DSM shootout in August and yes Al did remap the ECU for the larger injectors (A/F=11.0@WOT). It was him who recommend me upgrading to the larger injectors with the mods I have. I was there for a custom street tune by him. I know it's a common problem when you upgrade cam shafts, larger injectors, and fuel pump without without any piggy back or ECU flash to acommodate the new upgrades on the stock ECU. Now there is a fix for it by Al and I do plan on sending my ECU to him for the Idel Flash uprade as stated in my previous post.

So if I get HKS cam gears, my idle can be as good as stock?
