Problems after installing DC Sports downpipe

First of all, let me say that the DC Sports piece is really nice and fits well. No problems with the quality of the piece at all. However, my car now stalls out at low RPMs. My only other mods are boost controller at 21 PSI, Perrin catback, Buschur air filter, MR BOV, thru-the-mail DynoFlash, and home made grounding kit. My car has never stalled, ever, before the install of the down pipe. It stalled for the first time Friday night when pulling into my drive; I had to creep up while waiting for the garage door to open. When I went to restart it just turned over and would not start. I held the gas pedal down and cranked it again and it fired up after a little bit of spluttering and black smoke. So, I would imagine it flooded the engine. In stop & go traffic it tries to stall but I can keep it alive with a little gas after putting the clutch in.

So, why is it acting up after the installation of the 3" DP? Incidentally, I am using the 'mechanical' O2 fix to keep the SES light at bay.

Is the BOV fitted correctly. I have seen BOV fitted backwards.

What am I? An idiot? Of course it's fitted correctly!!!!! How do I know? Well, ermmm, one of the hoses won't reach if you put it in backwards. Or so I've been told . The BOV's been fine since I put it on, it's just giving me problems since I installed the DP. I might put the stock plastic piece back on to see if the MR unit is the problem.

The guys that fit them backwards are not idiots. It just happens. And when someone says they have a BOV that and are stalling well it's just make sense to ask if it was fitted correctly.

Haha, sarcasm really doesn't travel the interweb well at all. I know the BOV won't fit backwards because I spent a good 10 minutes trying to figure out why the hose wouldn't reach when I first installed it. That's why I put the little winky smiley in the post .

If I need a reflash after a 3" DP then I'm screwed. Al's too far away and nobody round here can do it. This is my only car too, unless I kill the wife .

Don't kill the wife man That did not work out well for OJ.

Do you have any CEL?
Did you do any other mods when installing the down pipe?

I've got the DC Sports DownPipe and it's not stalling at all. In fact, my set up is very simmilar to yours (minus the BOV) and it's fine.

Good luck!

No CEL and no other mods when installing the DP. I even disconnected the battery and let it idle for 15 minutes after install.

To eliminate the possiblities, you can reinstal the stock downpipe, resetting the ECU, and see if the problem goes away.

whoever said you need to get a flash after installing a DP is incorrect. Something have have gotten lose when you installed it. Check all hoses and vacum lines.

Well, in case anybody cares: I checked all my clamps/hoses last night and tried to tighten them down but they were all pretty much as tight as they would go so I undid the clamps and re-tightened them just to make sure. Took it for a drive again and the problem was still there. Got on it in 3rd and boost went from 21ish down to 16ish at red line. Hmmm, that ain't right. Went home and rechecked everything and everything was fine. Off came the MR BOV and on went the stock plastic unit. Immediately felt a difference. Boost dips to about 19 at redline now (just as it has always done) and stop & go traffic this morning didn't involve me having to rev the car after depressing the clutch.

So, it's the MR BOV. Not sure why the problem only appeared after installing the DP though. Maybe I got a bad BOV?

Anyone want to buy an MR BOV? Works perfectly .
