Anti-Lag

Anti-Lag and Launch Control has been activated on my Autronic. This car launches like it's taking off from an aircraft carrier. The search for upgraded differentials and tranny has begun! I'm going to the track on Oct. 30th (Pueblo, CO). It will be interesting to see what this does to my 1/4 mile times (and my drivetrain). I'm currently in the low 11's at 6000 ft above sea level. Take a look at the attached picture.

JTB,

Thanks for the information. Is KAAZ coming out with anything? Any good tranny options available yet?

3240, have you figured out how to use the shifting feature with the Autronic? I used it back in my DSM days where you could easily hook up a wire to the clutch and do a "no lift shift" without any damage to the trans.

Just think if you were at sea level

The "no lift shift" has been activated. The guy doing the tuning on my Autronic has been building Rally cars for years and has always used Autronic. He prefers Autronic over AEM by a long shot and has worked with both. Racing season is over after Oct 31st here in Colorado. This winter I plan on installing a custom RnR stroker crank allowing me to rev to 8500 rpms with my 2.3l. I'm also installing Piper drag cams and a RnR GT42 turbo kit. I'm hoping that there will be some more upgrades available for the drivetrain (diffs, tranny, etc.). A custom water injection system is being installed to run with the 91 octane map. This is a one of a kind system that has been developed with Aquamist and the gentleman who has built my car. The system is redundant and fail proof. Any signs of a pump failure or a clogged line causes the car to reduce timing and boost down to safe 91 octane levels, but again the system is redundant so failure is not likely. This system has been under development for about 6 months and all of the "bugs" are just about worked out. I'll keep you posted on the details once the kit is complete. This is not an off the shelf system. Next year it's my goal to hit mid 10's at 6,000 feet above sea level. I'll be selling an HKS 3240 complete kit and HKS 272 cams shortly for a good price. PM if interested.

Sounds really exciting. We were trying to figure out how to set it up, but ran out of time. The GT42R is going to a monster that is for sure. I can't wait until I can release the final pics of the header/turbo combo. I can't wait to hear the results from your set up.

Altitude and boost

There has been some debate on this forum about the accuracy of some dyno correction factors posted for cars dyno'd at altitude. The correction factor that's been used for my car has been about 1.25. Using that correction factor my EVO has dyno'd at about 580 awhp on C16. My trap speeds of about 125-126 mph show that figure to be fairly accurate . Also, something that I don't think is taken into consideration when these correction factors are debated is the loss of turbo effeciency at altitude. I'm running an HKS 3240 which can easily boost to 35psi on C16 at sea level. Up here at 6000 feet above sea level I can run no more than 27psi on that same set up. Any higher and the 3240 is out of its effeciency range as we've seen during many tuning sessions.

The RnR GT42 setup should allow me to make over 32 psi on C16 which will make an enormous difference at this altitude.
