****. O2 sensors didn't do it!

Damn, I am thinking coilpacks now!

I mean after all I am getting coils 1-6 and 2-5.

But, wouldn't the coilpacks work at all temps? not just when it's not?

Coilpacks can absorb heat and if there is something wrong with them, they could fail when they get hot.. But you pulled codes for:

MAF
Coolant
front o2
IAT
CAS
Coil 1-6
coil 2-5
egr
vss

That is basically every relevant component on the engine..

OHHH! Another thought now that you said its a VR4 (Likely running a OBD1 ECU similar to the 1G Eclipse), Remove the ECU from the car, earlier DSM ECU's had a problem with capacitors that could leak and corrode, and would likely cause the symptoms your describing.. Its the only thing I can think of besides a problem with the wiring harness that can cause all those codes to trigger simultaneously!

Yup, I had that happen too. You can send the ECU to Danny at Technosquare. I've seen him pull the VR4 ECU's appart and fix bad internals. He's got a bookshelf full of old VR4 ECU's.

The other option is to buy a remanufactured one. They swap out easily.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the replies as always.

I did do the Capacitors. They were replaced with Rubicon capacitors. Mine were leaking, but it wasn't leaking that bad at all. It just started.

But I did swap my ECU out with a good one though.

I took my friend's ECU, put it in my car, start it up (the car was already running prior taking out of my ECU, so my car was already warm), and the CEL was still on (remember, the car is already hot from already running).

How long was I suppose to let HIS ECU run on the car?

I started it, let it idle for a couple minutes, shut it off, and concluded it wasn't a bad ECU.

Those are the codes.

MAF (swapped with a good one, and CEL was still on), O2 (just replaced) , Coolant (well, it's coolant..lol), VSS (nah), IAT (not MAF, so not this?) are all the ones I don't think is responsible.

so it's CAS, the two coils, and EGR.

Try the coils. Tadashi at Technosquare mentioned when I had my car that spark was weak in the car, but everytime he saw someone change them out from anything but stock, it messed up the ECU. He said the electrical is very finicky in that car.

I don't know if he's back from Japan yet (he's been Ill), but Danny might be able to help you;

Yes, I had a VR4 running 15G's w/ HKS boost controller, RPS clutch and Tadashi dialed in rom flashes for me. I had an ECU problem and replaced it. I remember asking him about playing with the coils/spark and he told me all attempts he saw caused ECU problems and not to do it. It ran mid 12's because I didn't track it much but it trapped 115 mph. I sold the car

That being said and going on a 2 and half year old memory, I'd say go stock w/ the coils and speak with Danny. He'll point you in the right direction.

I like those seats. The car had a great interior.

yes, yes they are nice cars indeed. I ordered a set of Berg Bowman? Coils for my car.

What's the brand? and are they good?

Trung

If this doesn't fix it, I am going to install my EGR block off plates, and if that doesn't fix it, it goes to the shop.

I will call denny!

Thanks!!

I'd try stock coils. You may need a new ECU again if you run or have run anything else.

Just my 2c, but ask Danny.

Good luck!

I ran copper plugs one heat range colder at .028 - .025 with no problem. Stock was .036 I think. I also ran 22lbs of boost on 100 octane.
