To test your clutch, put in in fourth and hit the throttle. If the RPMs rise without a corresponding increase in acceleration, you need a new clutch.

I'm not sure how a stock misfire is different from an aftermarket misfire, but when your car misfires, it will feel like it "missed" a step. Usually, the car does not misfire just once, but continuously. You'll know if your missing 25% of your engine.

If your clutch is slipping, it will not transfer all of the power to the wheels. It will slip and allow your throttle to rev the engine (clutch out and engaged) normally like you would during acceleration, but the power will spin off in the clutch and the car will not move forward like it should.

it does it pretty regularly now... in 3rd 4th and 5th... floor it, right when the main boost kicks in the rpms jump as if i have the clutch engaged, then drop back down and continue to rise normally... very scary.. my poor evo is hurtin'... someone suggested cold spots on the clutch?
