Question MBC in different temperature?

I am going to install a MBC to set to 20 psi all the way to red line. If the weather change from hot days to cold days do i have to set again the MBC to prevent psi over 21 in cold days or the climate don't affect this situation. I live in Puerto Rico in the year the lowest temp are 65 and the highest are 98.

You wont have any problems in PR. When I lived in miami I had no issues, when you get in the 40's and lower you start to see spiking

Do you think that evc is a waste of money ? or is more safe for my engine. I don't want psi over 20 or 21. Which MBC do you recomend to avoid spikes

Here's my .02 worth. Don't even mess around with a MBC, because what chapter said it will start to spike in colder weather and thats what happened to me. So I bought a HKS EVC V and haven't had a problem yet. Plus with a EBC you can sort of have a valet mode if it holds more than 1 map.

or you can just save the 600$ and get a hallman pro MBC which enables u to control the boost from the cockpit. but, the answer is yes. with change in temperature your boost will change slightly, but not majorly.

whenever you go full boost, just check the gauge once in awhile... you'll see if it spikes too high...

Where I live the temp range is over 115 in the summer to the low 20s at night in the winter months. I adjust my MBC as the weather cools or heats up. No big deal, just a slight turn of the knob. Just watch your gauge and then adjust accordingly. EBC is easier but not worth the money IMO.

Spiking would be a problem where the temp ranges are large and over a short peroid of time such as a severe cold front moves through and the temp goes from say 65 to 40, then you would spike.

The main advantage of an EBC is closed loop boost control.. For some its just not worth the money, but for others, getting the same level of boost all the time without adjustment is worthwhile..

If you make your MBC adjustments when the weather is around 75 or so degrees, you should be fine for the variations higher (90's) or Lower.. truth is, when the weather is really warm, you may want to run slightly less boost anyway..

With an MBC, if you set your boost at 20 on a hot day, it will spike as high as 23psi on a very cold day.. but in PR your temp variances arent as great as here in the Northeast so if you pick an "Average" day to set it.. it should stay within .5psi regardless..

Malibu, what PSi should we be running in 100 degree temps? I do not feel comfortable with even 19 in that heat. The turbo housing glows like a lantern even in the cooler temps when you get on it.

I run 17 or so in really hot weather.. There's no question even with high boost your car will be just weak on a really hot day..

No doubt. It's like a different car now that the temps are in the 50s. It feels like I gained 50 WHP over the 100 degree days. I wonder if a larger core would help on those hot days.

When you guys are talking about spikes with the mbc in cold weather, are you talking about the whole boost curve rising, or just the initial spike.

I'm trying to decide whether to install the SBC id3 that I have out of another car in my Evo, or just get a mbc.

I feel a little more comfortable with the long term reliability of a mbc since it's a mechanical device, but maybe that's just wrong-headed thinking since the car has electronic boost control stock.

with the stock engine if i use a MBC and set to 21 psi is safe for the engine. Or i should set to 20 psi. With your experience, for this 3 MBC which you prefere Hallman pro, Hallman pro rx or Turbo XS Dual Stage Boost Controller.
