So, stockt SRT-4 owners are getting ticketed for not having mufflers too?

I have 1st gen WORKS AB muffler delete pipe. Great piece for the price. There's usually a few used WORKS or Buschur delete pipe for sale. When ever you want to upgrade to a full turboback, you could sell the muffler delete for near the same price.

Cat-back is better? Dsport magazine did a comparo article on 8 different exhaust for the EVO. WORKS muffler delete pipe with WORKS intermediate pipe (same size as stock mid pipe) gained 14 whp.

other people have said it...although probably not in the nicest way...I honestly dont see a point in getting axle back, chances are you'll want to upgrade to full catback in the future anyway...With that said, I do like the Works one...although I would buy a CB.

Works AB is nice.. or you could save some money and get he Buschur Racing muffler delete. Same thing as the Works AB as far as performance. I had one for a while when my car was mostly stock and it sounded great.

Megan Racing Quality is not comparable to WORKS quality.... I have also heard on the Megan racing you need to get a hole drilled for the O2 sensor and you also have to do a bit of welding... IMO that is a pain I don't think I would ever buy a megan racing product..... Sorry but I just have not heard good reviews on quality...

thats weird..i've heard nothing but good reviews on it..the one on lancershop is only 385 and i've been told by many people it was easy bolt on and sounds great (good low growl, not too loud)..looks nice with the titanium tip too..fully polished mandrel bent stainless..i dont see how that doesn't compare to works..but i've never had any works products so maybe you are right..

Buschur Muffler Delete. Cheapest, lightest, most power.

Still not loud even without the muffler. Tells you how useless the muffler really is.

I'd have to agree that the Megan quality is not bad at all from what I've seen. It is a major pain that it does not come with an O2 bung for the 2nd O2 though. I'm one of those that requires a "factory fit" in such matters and can't understand why Megan does not offer the O2 bung to the US market.

Upgrading your axle back is a great first step towards upgrading your exhaust.
The factory muffler is the biggest restriction in the stock exhaust system due to the extremely stiff flapper door that requires a large amount of exhaust pressure to open. (We bought one and cut it open before the EVO was released in Feb '03)

The stock intermediate pipe is actually quite good and straight thru (no restrictions). If you are local, we can demonstrate the golf ball test where we drop a golf ball into the inlet and let it freely roll out the other side.

WORKS designs every single exhaust component to fit just like factory. We buy a brand new Mitsubishi exhaust component and build our jigs off of those exhaust pieces. That is why our fitment is identical to OEM and every piece is interchangable with stock pieces.
In addition we hand TIG weld all of our Exhale ABs (axle backs) and QC each and every one before it goes out the door.
Then you can add more WORKS exhaust pieces as you feel comfortable.

Many times you can get a used WORKS AB for like $100. It might be a bit much when brand new, but I have seen some selling for $100 used.

If interested, I have a brand new RS-R GTII catback exhaust that was slightly damage in delivery. The axle back portion has a dent in the end of the pipe where it meets the mid-pipe. RS-R is sending me a new axle back and aren't asking for the damaged one back, so I have the axle back portion to sell for real cheap if interested. PM me if you have questions, pics attached

Ha! I've never seen the Works AB cheap, brand new , but have seen it around $100 used. Keep looking at the "for sale" forums.
