Lightbulb New HKS Cams

HKS is releasing another camshaft option for the EVO. Intake 280 duration 10.8 Lift with a exhaust cam 280 duration 10.2 lift. These new cams are being matched with their Step up cam packages they have had existing for some time for GTR's ect. No Pro step up kit was offered unfortunately which has valves and guides. For now only the 3 cams 264, 272, 280 and you can package them with springs and retainers. The larger cams cost the same as the older ones !!!

That's pretty freaking cool! They're definitely gonna need springs and retainers, though.

Do you really need springs and retainers? What does HKS say about that.

You should not need springs and retainers for this cam set. The valve lift is no different from the other two sets, only the duration. What you WILL need however is a cam gear set.

But going to a substantially longer duration set may not be in your best interest. Bigger is not always better. Be advised.

Man, I looked closer and you're right. They're still keeping that same lift with those 280s. You'd think they'd get a little more aggressive with lift if these are supposed to be their "hot cams". Meh, well.
