yeh, that's horrible.

Well, you could get the ACT from

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ghlight=voters

talk to Dru and tell him I sent you.

You maybe get it overnight shipping for free.

Ihateporshce wear out his exedy twin carbon clutch within a year, I think. Now he's gettin exedy triple carbon clutch. lol... that guy's nuts.

ran 12 sec, and still picks up his kids in his car (it's a daily driver). that's gotta be something.

I have basically the same clutch, the Cusco carbon twin. THe carbon disks hold like a hobo on a ham-sandwich. But, repeating launches are just a way to kill a clutch. HOLDING 700ps and resising the abuse of drag launches are two different things. IMHO

Aren't the carbon clutches or twin disk clutches better on the transfer case than the single disk clutches because they can be slipped?

TurboTrix, is there any clutch out there that can hold 400-450whp and constant drag launches without a problem? Keep in mind most cannot replace the ACT the way you can, and would require a shop to do it for $200-300 dollars each time. I have about 3,000 miles and 110 launches on my twindisk, maybe 20-30 more since it started raining here (weeeeeeeee) but when it goes out, will the ACT be able to take the abuse the exedy has? I killed the stock clutch in 83 dragstrip launches? I count, so everytime my TC doesn't blow up I fall to my knees in joy.

I also have the Cusco Twin Carbon.. I've put about 16k on this clutch with numerous trips to the track.. Maybe you should try a diffrent break in approach with your clutch. Then again, I also never had any problems with my stock clutch..

i had a 95 tsi awd and i launced it all the time with the stock clutch and always kept it under control, then i put in a measly 2100 and ran numerous 12.7, 12.8, 12.9 passes with low 1.7 60ft's, i finally killed that clutch with a 60-1. i've also launched my friends car on a 2600 and did a modest 1.71 60ft not killing it too bad cuz of t-case woes. now i have a 2005 evo with 500 miles and when i launch it the clutch just slips. i'll get the twin carbon, twin organic, act, whatever works. i'll be pissed if I spend almost 2000 on a twin carbon and it fails after a year. the whole point of buying it is so I dont have to change it for awhile. I plan on having my car around 400 whp and then calling it quits, not looking to build a motor or pull the head off, just a decent turbo, maybe reflash and some cams. after reding this thread this leads to me to ask if I should just use the act and change discs once a year?? or should I just drop 2g's and get the twin carbon???

On another note i've also heard twin discs are better on driveline parts then singles and I thought twins are great for slipping them out??? Now some say they arent good for slipping??? what exactly are they good for then???

RPS is releasing the Twin disc Carbon-Carbon on the 8th of November. Make the call on a wise decision.

That is why RPS Carbon Carbon is the best. It will not warp because the flywheel, floater, and pressure plate all have carbon inserts. 180 day warranty and full rebuildable for under $500.

For 500whp + do you still think the ACT with Street Disk is the clutch to go with? You guys use the 6 puck? I know DSM guys never had much luck using 6 pucks.

point taken.....but one thing in the other corners favor is that i can buy almost 6 ACT's for the price of one RPS carbon/carbon

Another point taken, you need to pull the 6 ACT clutches out and you still have a clutch that is worn out not rebuildable. And will not have a large holding power like RPS's. You can slip it, ride it to your heart's content and it will not glaze, burn, or warp anything!

My Exedy twin plate is fine for daily driving and is holding up to my 500+Whp Evo. Then again I dont launch the car either.

I have my Exedy Twin Plate for about 11K now and it works fine! I tracked it for a few times (circuit racing, not drag) and hard launches the car once in a while on the street. I don't see a problem with it yet.

I replace my stock clutch at 12K miles and they are still in very good condition (can i say like new?) with 6 track days and numerous launches on the street.

I guessed it depends on how you drive it, or luck.

I had an ACT 6 puck on my Supercharged Miata before, the clutch works good, but it is not as smooth as the exedy twin plate for everyday driving. And the clutch pedal is heavy as hell! ACT makes very good clutch, but the single plate race clutch design will have a heavy pedal and rough daily driving experience.

Although Exedy twin plate is expensive and may not last forever, the reasonable pedal efforts and stock like engagment for daily driving is a big plus over ACT.
