Cam gears...any difference?

Im trying to purchase some cam gears, looks like my choices are AEM, fidanza, and HKS.....

for you guys running these gears, or anyone that knows anything about em, do any of them have anything over the others? i mean, is the quality basically the same in all 3? i would really appreciate the help. thanks.

i think fidanza is what turbo trix uses on their shop car and it obviously works for them.

Ya but the HKS ones look freakin sick

I read in another thread that cam gears give considerable power (I think the guy said like 30 hp more on his stock cams, and an additional 12 hp when he switched to HKS cams). Anybody know anything about this? I keep hearing that cam gears aren't worth the money Not to hijack your thread bro but I thought it would be useful to you as well.

I had the HKS ones then sold them for the Fidanza's. The HKS look awsome even though they dont match anything but they only have a 3 bolt mounting bracket and the Fidanza's have a 5 bolts mounting. Some people dont care but to me its always nice to have the extra security. Those bolts just happen to come loose OMG you could be hurting!

We only use the Fidanza bits at my shop. Haven't installed any on the EVO yet, but every other application has been spot on. Great company with great bits.

Cam gears really dont add that much power but yet lets you tune the power you have more. With cam gears you can adjust if you want more bottom end or top end or anything in the middle. You can also adjust the overlap or timing of how the cams act. This is were you gain your power. Would i say 30whp no i dont think so but you can tell a difference let me tell you!

So adjust them to gain it back. Thats why there are so many settings on them. I had mine at -3/-3 but that was on my old setup and i had allot of top end. Not with my new setup i dont need as much top end becouse of the turbo and stuff so i will probably run -3/-1 or somthing to that effect dont know will find out on the dyno.

Looks like I should look into them then. I had no idea they would yield so much power. I thought they were only for adjustments, but obviously that's only part of what they do. I will have to try and get myself a set. How easy are they to install/tune yourself?

its not the gears that add all the power...its the tune...to get the most out of the gears, make sure you have some sort of standalone or piggyback to optimise them...or make sure you get a reflash if you are already flashed
