Added a Catback, ECU reset?

Is there any need to reset the ECU after adding a 3 in catback exhaust. I'm not clear on whether the ECU would see any difference and a search of postings has turned up ambiguous advice. Some say the ECU needs to learn the increased flow, is this just folklore or real? Calling all the techies! Thanks in advance!

If it takes 10 minutes to do and it can't hurt, why not?

the only time it's really worth an ecu reset is if u had something that would greatly change your air flow or an exceptionally large boost in hp... which would probably make a great change in air flow anyway. ive had teh hks hi power exhaust for a few months now, catback 3" stainless steel and it's worked great without resetting the ecu. i would say let the ecu pick up the changes itself.
