Water Temp sensor mounting?

I been searching around for some info on where I can mount the water temp sensor and I saw the post that mentions it's under the top return pipe?

can somebody confirm this and also what is the size of the Tee and adapter I will need? (the sensor is 1/8" npt)

thanks

I can confirm this.....it is located under the thermostat housing facing forward of the car. I bought the sender from mitsu (i have the part number) and it is 1/8npt. I am curently looking for a tee adapter. I heard autotech.com has one but shows it in their catalog (not the website) keep me informed if you have found one

my mechanic told me that the sender has to be in contact with the water and that the tee will put it too far away

what is the stock sensor's part number and cost?

i got my tee from home depot, they sell them

I dont have the part on me but I will get it tonight. The part was $24. There were no marks on the sender to specify Ohm range. As far as the tee, many turners have done that. i dont think an inch of water travel will cool the coolant to the point that the sensor is sensing bad coolant temps.....an if its off by a couple of degrees, Oh well lol it only leads to gagues....the ECU sensor is on the other side of the thermostat housing
