Gauging interest in shorter 5th gear
From what I have read and from my own experience I have found 5th gear to be very tall. This is great if you are cruising on the highway but not ideal for either drag racing or track use.
I mentioned this to a friend that sells gears for custom boxes for Porsches and he thought that it would not be too hard or expensive to have a quality shorter gear made.
I thought I would post this to gauge interest as well as get some information. In order to do this he would need to know what ratios are in the Evo box -- can anyone post this info?
What do you guys think? Would this be of interest?

Going to the 6 speed seems a more practical but more costly solution than shortening fifth. If you swap trannys you still have something to sell and recover some costs on. However I agree 5th is too tall to be much more than a gas mileage gear and is difficult to use at speeds under 40. Fourth is good for about 120 and not many Evos exceed that in a drag race or road race either. I did try to race in 5th once and found it useless (my son walked me good with his clk 55 AMG).

I guess 5th is not as interesting as I thought. Is there any interest in changing any other gears? If there is then I will look into it.
Does anyone know the ratios of the stock box?
Thanks,
