Differences between 03 / 04 Ecu and the new '05 ecu
This week we recieved the softwear from the new '05 Evos to start disecting and reviewing it
I found some interesting things about the ecu
First - there are not additional fuel maps on the new evo, there was lots of talk about a 3rd fuel map in the MR version ecu
Although it does take a while to locate all the fuel and ign maps as they are in new locations - they are the same size as the previous ecus
It seems that mitsubishi went more in the general direction as the previous '04 and '03 evos with the dual main fuel map - One each of high detonation and low detonation. The high det fuel maps are the same exact as in the '03 ecus.
Interesting mitsubishui gives the '05's a bit of a more perfrmance turn on the mid range with a slightly leaner mid range which starts to look more like a perormance modified tune, but in the upper rpms it still goes very rich as in the last ecu.
On the Ignition side - the maps are vitualy identical - no major variations
Same general rev limit
Seems to be some sort of launch control of some other two step style rev limiter whnc you have the clutch pushed down, I am working very hard to learn how to adjust that feature. It will be nice to have that setting adjustable for those who drag race -p or even remove it if needed
Strangest thing I discovered is the MR tune is identical to all other '05's
So I guess you can say that the MR has no additional horse power performance over the other '05 evos
I am just very excited to finally have this ecu unlocked and be ready to flash. I'll post an update of any additional developments we may discover in the comming days

Nice work! Always good to learn more about the ECUs.
I don't think Mitsu advertises the MR to have more ponies than the Standard EVO VIII. I think the only difference are the shocks, roof, 6speed and the vortex generators are standard on the MR.

Nice info. I'm guessing that the launch control setting is also a calibration, same as the fuel and timing map which can be change. Knowing where this info/address is located on the micro/eeprom could be hard unless you can detect it.
