^ lol I guess that would be frustrating.....but I think most or all would agree that a recirc system (closed system) would not need a stabilzation algorithm (aka EIDS) due to recycling accounted air. I dont see a problem with using EIDS w/a recirc BOV....when I placed my stock BOV back on for a while (dont ask....i do strange stuff like that sometimes lol) I had no problems at all w/EIDS .....just my opinion

Yeah its best that you recirculate, essentially thats what all of the posts kinda eluded to.. If you do and don't have other leaks or issues, you shouldn't get any stalling.. However the EIDS won't harm anything by using it, its just that if its set to smooth the signal significantly you may find sudden throttle changes may feel "odd" or sluggish..

Your absolute best bet is to recirculate the SSQV if you really want to use it.. I have one that Vents to atmosphere, however i also have a blowthrough MAF sensor which means its no longer affected by dumping excess air to the atmosphere..

HOWEVER I don't particularly like the SSQV, But its the only unit that has not leaked under boost in my configuration.

It flutters alot at part throttle, and gets a bit of compressor surge.. if you don't spend alot of time adjusting it.. unfortunately if you don't adjust it right you can damage the diaphragm in it, but if you adjust it too soft engine vacuum can draw it open and the car will just stall and run like crap..

Yeah, unless you don't have a MAF sensor before the BOV (either a blowthrough or speed density setup) its just not worth the effort to get working right.. Oddly enough, the Blitz DD with the heavier spring works pretty well, but it does surge a little..

I use the Blitz DD, along with the Blitz SUS Power Filter, and the HKS EIDS and have little problems. I did nothing to reconfigure the spring but flutter/surge comes about when I am light on the throttle. WOT I have no issues.

The biggest problem is when it is cold out though. Living in Indiana it tends to get a little chilly. The RPMs jump all over the place while the EIDS is trying to work. To fix that, I put a switch in to turn on/off the throttle response from the EIDS.

In terms of setup you only get one of the dials to configure, rich or lean in the model for our Evo's. I have it a little on the more lean side.

If there are any more questions let me know. I will do what I can to help with their setup.

P.S. - In terms of hooking it up. The Yellow & White wires will break into the MAF sensor on the ECU. I forget which one is which. I will check if someone needs for me too. The Pink (I Think) is for the throttle. The rest is just power and ground.

I had the HKS SSQ in the VTA configuration with the EIDS. My car was tuned by Al with this setup last week.

I have since removed the HKS BOV in favor of the Forge RS recirc unit. I am now recirculating 100% with this unit. I removed the EIDS and the car ran like crap, stuttering backfiring, and running very high EGT's at low speeds. I put the EIDS back on and the car runs fine again.

Is the EIDS hurting anything (throttle response, performance, drivability) to still be on the car when it is now recirculating?

Do I need to be re-tuned without the EIDS to run properly?

I realize these are prob. queations for Al but I am impatient and it is 10:30pm and I can't call him. Thanks!
