Since I assume your driving an 03 evo (since it says Drives: 03 Evo) You can definitely upgrade.. Nobody that i know of has tried clipping, but that really affects the spool and is likely going to end in undesirable results.

Three things you can do to your turbo (four if you want) is

1) 10.5 turbine housing
2) Evo 05/MR Compressor cover
3) Stainless O2 housing
4) Stainless tubular header..

The Header will likely make the car a little louder.

The biggest gains you would likely see are an upgraded exhaust system (with a quiet muffler like the Buschur setup with a magnaflow) it may still be a little louder than stock though, and upgraded downpipe and catalytic converter. Also although its not a "turbo" upgrade in itself, you can add a boost controller to keep your boost level at 20psi through redline.

There's enough documentation on the gains of the turbine housing, and new MR turbo, that even those minor upgrades offer decent results. But I say this to everyone, the results are somewhat cumulative so a few small upgrades in concert may result in overall better than the value of each individual one.

Now the key is.. What do you want to change, do you want to keep it as quiet as stock (obviously by your post) and do you want to retain your warranty.

Do you own the red Evo that parks in the Subway mall on central ave.?

Like Malibujack stated, there are quite a few upgrade paths that as a group can increase HP. Keeping everything quiet is a little harder, yet there are many mods you can make while keeping the noise to almost stock like. Try to keep you stock intake for one. Most if not all aftermarket intakes/filters will increase the noise level dramatically. If you're looking for a stock like exhaust while increasing hp you should go for the Fujitsubo catback, its incredibly pleasant.

Superz...thats not me, i try to stay away from central due to the boyz like to pull me over Lol, Im from new rochelle..where u from??

As far as the options of flashing and exhaust and what not, i have all that done. I was just curious about the clipping options on a stock turbo because old DSM (which i used to own) used those. (i was never a fan of it..just curious)

As far as the cam and warranty thing. The cams are LOUD and produce a choppy idle from the cars ive seen. I feel like a mitsu service tech will notice them right away...thats all. I was trying to explore the option of a upgraded turbo w/o cams. What do u guys think

I have learned one thing for sure since I started to work on cars and that is: Anything you modify (hardware) on your car to make it faster will result in louder noise. I am sorry to be the one with the bad news but no matter what you do the sound will always be louder after headers, O2 housing and bigger turbo. EVOs are loud cars even when they leave the parking lot of the dealer.

Are you the guy that lives down the street from me? This is Paul with the Tarmac. I did the stock Turbo upgrade and happy with the result. Hit me up.

Yes, I am the only crazy guy who had a turbo upgrade with stock cat and no cams 7 months ago. How much did I make is a secret J/K... I made 350 on dyno jet with 91 gas .

Search under ATP and Az3ar. now is that turbo loud? I will say yes it sounds like a sting bee when it's spooling.

Other option is as MJ said go with the 10.5 or all TI bearing turbo as smog.

Garret makes the turbo. It will need the same housing that ATP uses
