Water spryer for oil cooler

I had an idea the other day while I was driving in traffic. It gets hot down here in the summer and the oil temp get's pretty high if you sit at a light. I have seen it go as high as 95 degress C. I was wondering if anybody has put a tee in the hose for the intercooler sprayer and ran a hose and sprayer to the oil cooler. I think that it would help out great on those autocross days or if you drive your car daily in hot weather. I think I might get all the parts together and do a write up on it and the diffrences.

interesting idea, but really, 95degC (203degF) isn't that high. It's not even high enough to boil off any water condensation that may be present. Heck, Mobil claims Mobil1 is good up to 400degF. Not that I'd run it that high but I think you've got some headroom.

I just want to cool the car down in summer time and hot oil does not help the situation. I used my intercooler sprayer like crazy when it was hot outside. That is my whole reasoning behind this idea.

If that's the case I'd look at a larger capacity radiator, larger oil cooler, lower temperature oil cooler thermostat (the oil isn't going to flow through the cooler if it isn't hot enough) as well as thermal coating the exhaust manifold to reduce heat emissions. Heck, mount a fan to the underside of the hood vent.

Like I said, you need to get the oil up to optimal operating temperature. 205degF isn't very high and cooling it too much won't do anything to improve engine efficiency.

Still, let us know how it works. Good luck.

if you are driving around town you prolly are not on boost so the intercooler is not chillen anything. remember untill you mash down on the peddle you're just cruisin around in a 2 ltr.
