HELP! MBC's ball and spring lost in engine bay!!!

Hello,

Earlier tonight I was trying to adjust my MBC. It was already on the lowest boost setting. However, I accedently turned the bolt the wrong way and the bolt, ball and spring flew out of the MBC, into the engine bay. I managed to retrieve the bolt but the ball and spring are still at large. What should I do? The car hasnt moved because I dont want to risk blowing my motor up. I'm thinking I have 2 options: either try to find the right parts at an autoparts store or take off the undertray under the engine and retrive the parts. Would an autoparts store have the correct type/size ball and spring? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Now I need a smoke....

Sometimes things like to get lodged in your starter. I had it happen once when I was pulling my bov off. I dropped a 3 inch extension down there and it got lodge in my starter. I could never find it. Then the next day when I try to start my car nothing happened. Actually everything would just shut off because all of my voltage was being shorted directly to ground through the starter. I found the extention there and it was sortta charred up where it made contact with the starter and block. It didn't hurt anything though.

Will I be OK if I drive the car without the ball and spring inside the MBC? I definitely wont get into boost until I get this resolved.

Yeah it will be ok to drive. Only problem is I don't know how well the car will idle since there is a vacuum leak where the ball use to be.

Just drive the car but dont get on it, otherwise boost will be unlimited. DOnt bother trying to find another ball and spring, bite the bullet and get another MBC, its cheap insurance.

Get the hallman mbc. It has a safety knob built in for keeping it from turning out all the way. http://www.boostcontrollers.com

i dont know if you have the controller set up from the throttle body/bov to the wastegate with the compressor housing plugged off or if you have the controller from the compressor housing to the wastegate, but if you run a vaccum line just from compressor housing to wastegate you should just run minimal boost (14psi)
just make sure that the throttle body line isnt still t'ed off and its only going to the bov.
