Cracked Piston #2..WTH?

Hey

So about a week ago... me and this kid w. a civic hatch was messing around...we did 2 races from a stop maxing out 4th gear till we stop....1st run i beat him, 2nd run i beat him also...

on the way back to the starting line i pulled 3rd gear the shifted to 4th then i heard couple of loud POP and my car just die...i was hmmm...nothing bad..i though that my IC hose had poped off, as it did many times before...

well to my suprise when i pop my hood all teh hoses were still there..i was like "oh ****" something else must of happended...check around..and checking still found nothing wrong, try to start the car but it would not start right away..after like 3 tries it finallly started..but there was so much blue, white smoke coming from the exhuast...and it ran like ****...shut it down and look somemore...i notice the oil cap area had alot of oil around it..so i unscrew it...

all i saw after that was alot of white smoke coming out...so right away me and my friends think it was the piston/s, or the rings had failed...either melted or worse...

did a compression check and got 200psi on 1,3,4 but 2 had none...at this point i knew def. something bad happended...

today i finally had some time to tear her down and see what happended....
after pulling of the head..what do i see...a ****ing cracked piston....i check for detonation, lean conditions, or if the spark plug or coil had fail

didnt seem like any of those things did...the spark plug looks like the other 3.....no sign of stress whatsoever..

seems like #2 piston just decided to cracked on me...thats it...the other 3 pistons looks mint...

Any of you guys have seen this..? or know why this even happended..?

mods...
Hallman MBC(22psi)
helix T-back
HKS 272/272 cams(gears)
buschur intake
Dynoflash custum tune...
car made numbers in my sig.

I dont think I've ever seen someone crack a piston across its face that perfectly before. I would have said it has something to do with your tune, but that doesnt look like something from running lean or detonation. I hope to hear someone has an answer for you for that.

bad piston, plain and simple. put stock cams back in and call mitsu, warranty replacement.
