Angry Oil Temp Sensor Problems (Defi BF)

Ok, someone set me straight...

I have a Defi BF setup, and the oil temp sensor just keeps failing after a few months. In 8 months, I have had 2 sensor failures now where the gauge reads erratically. If I put in another sensor, problem is gone (so I know its not the gauge itself or the control box, or the wires for that matter). Is this a common thing for these sensors to 'burn out'? I hope not as they cost 100 bucks a shot.

Have you contacted Defi about the failures? Companies are usually good about fixing products under warranty. There is also the possibility you have an electrical problem which is causing the failures. A friend of mine has the BF oil temp and hasn't had any problems, this is on an EVO too.

I'm hoping not to have any issues, since my BF's are in the mail...all pressure though, no temp gauges.

I"ve never seen these sensors go bad at all. Very unusual. Make sure non of the wires are exposed to high levels of heat and route them carefully. Where are you getting the temp reading from?

I am using a greddy oil block adapter.

From what I can tell the wires are ran away from any high heat source. Defi does not warrenty sensors I am told...just the gauges and control box.

So does anyone know what would cause a oil temp sensor failure besides a wiring problem? If not, I will just let this thread die.
