Damn you don't even need this clutch for a car with the HP you are talking about. An ACT will work fine for you.

I hate to throw water on the flames, but I don't believe it. If it feels and drives like the stock clutch, It's gonna perform like the stock clutch. I like to be proven wrong, unfortunately I live in the other coast and I don't see how I could test drive this "wonderclutch". Is there one of those installed to an EVO anywhere near Atlanta? I'd love to drive a car with that clutch in it. Still, I'm not convinced.... Talk is cheap and I still remember ppl selling me **** and claiming "better than stock", "just like stock", etc. Everybody who has said that to me before has lied (if you did not personally tell me that about what you sold me, I'm not talking about you ).... I'll believe it when I see it and personally drive it.
As far as the "you get what you pay for", just what the hell is the $1200 to $1400 one has to pay for an Exedy twin disk, chicken feed? Please.... show me this thing I'll buy it if it's true.

The ACT is going to hold up on good launches and not cause stress to the TC?

Depends on what kind of dyno he got his whp and how often he launches and slips his clutch.

If he's agressive, and his whp is conservative, this clutch will be great for him if it continues to live up to it's billing.

Remember, the evo has to turn up a lot higher to make it's power and that beats the sh it out of the clutch (yeah, I know I'm stating the obvious).

If his ACT (or another clutch too) warps, he'll go through a transmission and a tc if he doesn't get it out of the car fast (damage from clutch chatter - it's a slow death ). That can be more expensive than installing the carbon carbons and he's back to square one less $5-6K. Not to mention the hassle of prying it open one or more times. IMHO of course.

You cant have it both ways. If the clutch holds a lot more torque, it's gotta go somewhere. The TC has to transmit that power....... Any clutch that holds better than the stock clutch is going to put more stress on the rest of the drive train if you launch hard.

Very good to be sceptical. Here's what I've heard. The first few RPS clutches being tested had pressure plates set at 2100 lbs. From what I understand that is the same as the stock which should translate into the same as stock feel.

They have also been testing 2400 lb pressure plates and will make that the standard load because of the promise of this engine and high rpm power. This might also explain the increase in replacement disc packs - just in case you guys fry the fu ckers in fewer than 6 months.

For reference, the Exedy, again I've been told, has a 2500 lb pressure plate, so expect it to "feel" relatively light.

My jury is out until I have more feedback. If you don't need it now, wait. If you need a clutch, this is as good a gamble as any of the others. I've seen posts of every clutch getting toasted, but have yet to see the RPS fail

Ah the anticipation of what a racing season can bring

Typical EVOM response that keeps me off this board. I actually have the clutch and drive it everyday, but I'm a liar. You have likely never even seen it and admit to have never driven it, but you know it all. We'll let the jury decide how much sense that makes. It's great to be curious and skeptical, but to come out like you did, basically saying that I'm a liar, is without any class.

Find one, drive it, and compare notes. Until then you are just being an armchair critic, and this place has too many of those already.

Most aftermarket paddle/puck style clutch's are awful to drive full stop, I was dreading finishing my own car as this will be running 650hp atf 600ftlb, Until I fitted a RPS carbon and then drove the car for 300miles now I know it is worth every penny, You need to drive one to belive it you Granny could drive it NO BULL,
As for $600 to rebiuld it thats cheap, I am supprised no one said $400 is so cheap why is the clutch $3k then,
Drive this clutch and then you all will say it is worth it.

Mark

Read carefully what I said. I never called you a liar. I was very careful to qualify my comments in that respect.

I told you I've not driven or seen such a thing. I also said that I'd love to be proven wrong, but I did not believe your report. Again, I never called you a liar. Please re-read my original post.

I wish I could find a car with this miracle clutch. I said it before and I say it again. I really want to see and test drive this clutch. I don't agree with your words. I'm not being an "arm chair critic", my comments are based on solid personal experience for which I paid hard cash and lots of aggravation.

What this forum has too much of, is not people who'll question and shed light on stuff but rather too many sicophants and "yes men" who shout ther praises of every new thing or new tuner that pops up with promises of milk & honey, gargantuan horsepower gains and yes, improved driveability "better than stock" with whatever snake oil they are selling at the time.

I never called you a liar. All I said was that I don't believe your claims. I will believe it when I see it in person. Until then I'll be skeptical based on my personal, hard bought experience, thank you.

It sounds like a great clutch but $3k is just too much for a clutch. I am sure it feels very close to stock as many are saying but $3k is just overkill for a daily driven EVO. Of course they will have a rebuild program because the customer spent $3000 on a clutch so the customer is basically paying for a warranty through the years and the clutch it self. $600 for rebuild is a bit high as well. Anyways, Its your product and you can offer it at any price you like but $3000 plus installation is not something a customer will pay everyday.

I asked RPS if when installing this clutch is it going to put alot of stress onto the TC or is the clutch going to take it all in and he stated that the clutch will take it all in rather than the TC.

And you believed that?

Does the clutch just slip the entire time and never engage. The reason mitsu put a weaker clutch in, is to have it slip under heavy torque when engaged.

The RPS Twin will allow for you to slip it as much as you want it! And will not chatter when doing so. This will ultimately prolongs the TC life.

Slipping any clutch will prolong TC life.
