DO NOT ATTEMPT..fuel pump
to depressurize the lines you unplug the socket that powers the pump, and start the car. the engine will run momentarily then stall. then you proceed to disconnect the lines. to get the black ring off you gotta slide it around and remove it at an angle. at times it seems impossible, but its definately doable and all technique.
yucky....
Anyways the stock fuel regulator can handle the extra flow from the stock to the Walbro setup. I have heard benefits of no more pulling timing on cars in states with 91 to negatives like taking away 5hp on the Dyno in the high rev range. Safety being #1 if you mod your EVO add the fuel pump so your not kicking yourself in the a$$ later.

Anyways, is there any secret trick to getting the black circle piece off that holds the pump in? Its being a pain and for my next attempt i was just curious if theres any trick to it.
as for the circle, you gotta attack it at an angle.

sounds like a gay man's fantasy.
There is kind of a trick but I'd have a very hard time explaining it.. mostly just turning it and pulling at a weird angle.
I had like 1/4 tank when I did it.. the fumes really got to me even in a well ventilated area.
