DO NOT ATTEMPT..fuel pump

Do not try to put your fuel pump in when you have a full tank of gas! You will get gas everywhere and make a big mess. If evom had a jackass of the week it would be me! Anyways, is there any secret trick to getting the black circle piece off that holds the pump in? Its being a pain and for my next attempt i was just curious if theres any trick to it.

unplug the fuel pump and/or pull the fuse (if there is a fuse that only controls the pump) and run your engine till all pressure is gone. I don't think the gas tank level should matter as long as you are on a flat surface.

I Just installed it with 1/4 tank of gas, it wasn't too bad, car smelled like gas for a bit. The black retaining ring around the housing is a pain, have to rotate it around and wiggle it untill it clears all the fittings. Took me 35 minutes to do entire install.

do you need to do anything in the way of a flash or tuning after you install the fuel pump?

I'm pretty sure it increases the fuel pressure if you use the stock pressure regulator. Although you can tune for it, it's probably best to get a good rising-rate fuel pressure regulator and a fuel pressure gauge of some kind to get the base fuel pressure down to the stock base pressure.

Yea i was tryin to get the black ring off and everytime i moved it wich requires moving the whole deal it would just throw gas everywhere cause im mean i JUST filled it up this mouring. I never put 2 and 2 together that the fuel pump just might be in the gas tank. Welp i learned something!

an afc is fine if you dont have much mods on your evo yet.but once you start pushing for more mods and boost injectors and fuel rails the next step of rfuel delivery.fpr's not really necessary but with extreme set-ups it is an essential item to use.

Not sure where the pump is on an EVO (isn't it in the tank like 90% of other new cars?)
But you have to depressurize the fuel system before ****ing with it. My friend changed his fuel filter on his turbo Lebaron. I told him "make sure you pull the pump fuse and short an injector to get the pressure out"
"oh it will be fine" was what I got. I stood 5 feet away when he pulled the hose off the filter....WOOOOOOOOOSH, fuel sprayed ALL over him and the floor. We had a good laugh when I made sure it didn't spray into his eye and when we knew there was no chance of spark (lol).
