Question for Boost Adjustability out of ECU Only...

Hey guys... I am looking to get an STI or an EVO for T2 to Road Race next year...

The mods allowable are:

100 Octane

Double Adjustable Shocks (Stock locations/Stock Springs) no external resorviors.

K&N Drop in Air Filter

Catback Exhaust (meaning no muffler most likely)

And ECU Tuning... as much BOOST as you can do through the ECU is completely legal... but no manual adjustments.

How much power/boost can the car make and run with these allowable mods, and remember... no other 'typical mods' that you may be used too, like downpipe or removal of cats... they must all remain stock.

Thanks!

Dave

I don't know any numbers, but I do know there is a number of people that do ECU reflashes and dyno tuning on the stock ECU with no piggy back unit that would be considered Illegal. I know Vishnu and Dynoflash do that type of service for sure..the are many more...all tuners take different approaches on that type of tuning...so just talking to all the different ones (most of them are on this board) would probably be the best thing you can do.

The Works P2 flash may be just what you are looking for. Give them a call or do a search on it. The only other flash that has boost increase is the Vishnu Xflash..but they just remove the pill..the WORKS P2 utilizes a different pill/boost tube

If I remember correctly in the touring category any ECU modification was allowed provided it fit in the original housing?!? If that is still the case, Autronic makes a full standalone ECU that fits in the OEM housing. I know with my ESP car I ran into some airflow limits and the boost actually went down.... with the standalone that definitely won't happen. I wouldn't be surprised if the boost only increased slightly without removing the solenoid restrictor. With tuning you're probably looking at ~270 whp depending on who dynos the car.
