Questions on Megan Racing Exhaust

I've already done a search and haven't seen this anywhere. I'm not asking about the build quality, or this vs. that. I'm looking to get the downpipe, O2 housing, and high-flow cat from Megan Racing. So, for the guys who have Megan Racing exhausts, will the cel come on with this installed, or will it be good to go? That's all

Yes it will come on. The high flow cat isn't really a high flow cat, it is just a resonator. So basically it is the same as using a test pipe. You can use any of the "fixes" that are cheap and simple to not trigger the cel. Without using any fixes the cel triggered on my Evo after about 40 miles of driving.

Thanks for the info. What are some of the "cheap" fixes you're referring to?

This one's not very cheap, but works

Or I've heard you can get a bung to pull the o2 sensor out a little from the gases.

ewoevo,

I'm running the full Megan turboback exhaust... The best CEL fix for the money is the "spark plug anti-fouler" method. A quick search will show you how to spend the best $5 you ever have to insure no more check engine lights.

Thanks for the info Zeus. Also, did you have any fitment problems with the downpipe or catback?

BTW, Hook em Horns!

Megans came a long way. When they first came out, they sucked. Everyone immediately knew that they were obvious knock off of Mugen racing name.

But I heard good things about pipings. I mean, it's not that hard to bend pipes on mandrel bend machine and sell it. Nothing mechanical or technical, it's just tube with bents on it.

BTW, I got my cel light fix with dealer flash.

That or it'll go away in 12 cycles.

I had to "re-position" a coupe of rattling heat shields... also, I used the Kart Boy poly exhaust hangers... so there is very little movement in the exhaust... very little. If I had a gripe, it would be that the downpipe uses a flex section over the OE donut gasket. The Helix (nice but pricey), or Espelir (under $200 shipped) downpipes used a one piece mandrel bent pipe with a donut flange for engine movement... better flow.

Zeus,

Thanks for the info and link. That seems very simple to do. Does the Megan downpipe/test pipe come with an O2 bung already installed, or did you have to get one welded in?

No O2 bung in the test pipe... the Second Gen catbacks have the O2 bung in the OE location.

Correct, bung located on the mid pipe.
