ECU + minimal tuning results *pics inside*

So heres a little bit of tuning i've done. Just to get familiar with the software, and before i tune for a 12.x AFR. This is still rather rich, so im not through be any means. Im not bragging or anything, i jsut wanted those of you interested to see what it all looks like. So i added apic of the logging i did, and a pic of the dyno that it shows. The red is untuned, and the green lines are slightly tuned. Also, a side note. the red lines are WITH a dynoflash.

yeh, interesting, dylan gordon who looks at huntsville racing.

I don't see the flat line for air and fuel.

the air fuel is not integrated into the ecu+. Seeing as how i was borrowing the wideband that im using, i am not splicing the wires to someone elses toy.

12.x AFR is rather lean actually ..
if you're tuning for drag .. should be okay for short duration .. but stock boost ..
if you're tuning for track .. that's going to blow engine on the 2nd lap ..

you get the most increase when you start playing with the timing ..
advance midrange ( from 4-5k) around 2-3 degrees netted a couple of guys 10-15hp .. but you gotta work it carefully ..

interestingly, your MAF freqs are the same as mine and I'm boosting 25psi !!! geez .. either it's very cold there .. or the air is thinner near the equator !!

Great Xmas toy isn't it???

I'm sure its not quite the same thing, but by Xede is due to get here very soon. Where can I go to learn about using tuning software to tweek maps and stuff? Who doesn't like messing around and trying to find new combonations that work great? Obviously I'm not going to mess with it until I know what I;m doing, but where would I go to start learning? Thanks

Just do a serch in the Engine Management section, you can find info about tuning for many different ECM. They are all different, but same theory. Once you learn it, you can apply it to any ECM you use. Just keep reading about using wideband O2, EGT, and how ignition timing and AFR affect how your car performs.

Good luck!

Very interesting. I'm curious as to why you are seeing such a jump in low end power since it appears, based on your injector duty cycles, that no changes were made. It's also obvious where you knocked out a bunch of fuel at the top end. It also looks like you might be seeing a bit of knock. See where the timing dips right about at 5,700 rpm?

It could be becuase he WOT a couple hundred RPM earlier so the turbo was running at a higher boost at a given RPM than the previous run. Just my guess.

Well, I can see what you're saying, but there is no change in injector duty cycle. If he's making that much more power at a given engine speed, you should see both more fuel and also more air flow, neither of which the log data is indicating.

I may be wrong but I'm wondering if the start point that was selected for the dyno plot needs to be adjusted. This will affect dyno overlays. In my experience, for a clean plot the start point needs to be set where the RPMs are at the same speed for each log. I'm not sure if this in anyway affects the calculations. I do know that smoothing settings will greatly affect the plot and resulting max power stated. Maybe Tom Collins can chime in if he's reading this.

Just for the record, I own an ECU+ too. I have serial #5. I think it's a great logging & tuning tool. I'm not trying to hate. I'm happy to see that there are some other Evo owners out there putting it to use.

Prop .. I believe his image is too small and the scale too big on the ECU+ to see the changes he did ..

BJai02 could be right re on boost earlier too ..

The dip in timing is actually common for evos .. you'll see that if you smooth add 1 or 2 degrees between the midrange you'll gain quite a bit .. timings I see on JDM Evo's on boost is around 10-12 degrees between 4-6000rpms .. mine was 6-8 degrees .. check out your logs
