Am just wondering if anybody has swapped out the 5th gear (0.72) with something shorter ? 0.6x for instance ?

I need a little bit of top end on the highway, but I don't want to raise my rev limiter upto 8000rpm at the moment

A shorter 5th gear ratio and the 4.11 final gear ratio should do it for me.

Sorry to dig up an old thread (But hey! i used the search function!)

i'm looking to swap in an evo 3 5th gear (0.617) into an evo 6 gearbox (0.72).

Has anyone done this?

 

Wont work. Its a DSM 5 speed piece (input, intermediate, output), and the Evo 6 5 speed is the new style (input and output). I know TRE had the really steep 5th made for the DSM boxes, but I am not sure if they ever looked into it for the Evo4 up style.
